the fruit fly into the “queen bee of
genetics.”
• H.J. Muller discovered that x-ray & other
forms for short-wave radiation spectacularly
increased the genetic mutation frequency.
– Lead to the “dominant lethal” gene(s)
– Ultimately gave us the “Sterile Insect Technique”
