Here’s how it goes:
• 1. Receptors
in sensory
neurons pick up stimuli
• 2. The impulse then travels
from the sensory neuron
across the synapse, where a
chemical reaction occurs, to
the association/interneuron
• Here is where the brain usually
gets involved and interprets
the impulses and make you
realize what is going on
• 3. The impulse then travels
across a synapse, where a
chemical reaction occurs, to
the motor neuron
• 4. The motor neuron sends the
message to the muscles to
carry out your response.
