Non aggression pact
• The Soviet Union and
Germany signed the non
aggression pact on August 23rd
1939. It was a agreement
between Hitler and Stalin that
during this war they wouldn’t
fight. Hitler would come up
with this because he didn’t
want to fight a two front war
which was a big reason they
had lost the first war twenty
years back. The agreement
said that for Russia to stay out
of the next possible war that
was sure to come. Russia did
so they stayed back and
minded their own business.

Battle of Stalingrad
•
This battle took place August 19,
1942. Germany wanted to attack
Russia again to get to the city of
Stalingrad and capture it and cut
off all the communications. This
was far from the same results of
the last invasion of Russia. This
time they were strongly built and
ready. Plus the Germans invaded
them in the middle of winter and
they were cold, sick and just not
able to handle the conditions of
the harsh winters on Russia. The
Russians pushed back the
Germans and they didn’t even get
close to Stalingrad and it was a
great stand for the Russians.
