forces landed on Normandy in the North of

It was part of a larger operation known as
Operation Overlord

To keep the Germans in the dark the Allied
forces used a campaign of
DISINFORMATION to keep the Germans in
the dark

confuse an opponent

The Fleet comprised of over 6 THOUSAND
ships

Prior to the landing there was aerial
bombardment and paratroopers dropped
behind enemy lines
3,000 men died on the beach in one day
Over 1 MILLION personnel were involved in
the invasion
The Allies hold the beach
Despite the heavy losses the Allies hold the
beach and punch through into France
Allied forces had successfully opened up the
Western front that Stalin had wanted
August 25, 1944 France is liberated
After D-Day
Combined forces now turn west towards
Germany

The American +British forces were able to sweep
