The Cell Cycle
The Cell Cycle
• Interphase
Cell Growth and Preparation for Division
• Mitosis
Division of the Nucleus and its DNA
• Cytokinesis
Division of the Cytoplasm
Interphase
• Gap 1
Cell Growth
• Synthesis
DNA Replication
• Gap 2

Prophase
Metaphase
Anaphase
Telophase
Prophase
• During this phase, DNA in the form of
Chromatin condenses into
Chromosomes
• The Nuclear Membrane disappears
Metaphase
• During this phase, Chromosomes line
up at the Equator of the Cell
• Centrioles migrate to the poles as
Spindle Fibers attach to the
Centromeres of the Chromosomes
Anaphase
• During this phase, the Chromosomes
separate, with the aid of the Spindle
Fibers, and move toward the poles of
the Cell
Telophase
• During this phase, the Chromosomes
reach the poles of the Cell
• There they begin to uncoil into
Chromatin, and the Nuclear Membrane
reforms

Cytokinesis
• During this phase,
the Cell Membrane
constricts dividing
the Cell into two
fairly identical Cells
