Early History
Founded in 1899 as Czech Technical University in Brno
by a decree of Emperor Franz Joseph I
Before 1914 already had five departments:
- Civil Engineering;
- Mechanical Engineering;
- Electrical Engineering;
- Construction Engineering;
- Chemical Engineering.

Recent History
After 1989 were added the following Faculties:
1992 -
Faculty of Business and Management and
Faculty of Chemistry;
1993 -
Faculty of Fine Arts;
2002 - Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was divided into
Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication; and
Faculty of Information Technology.
