…They're part of the "truth" campaign of the American Legacy
Foundation, an organization set up with money from the tobacco
company settlements. Part of the settlement agreement gives the
tobacco industry the right to yank an ad off the air if it "vilifies"
tobacco companies. That's exactly what they've done to at least two
of the ads from the truth campaign. A senior vice president at Philip
Morris (which now calls itself Altria) told the LA Weekly: "We felt
that they are not consistent with the focus and mission of the
American Legacy Foundation."

