Risk for sleep disturbance
The risk is shown by simple RAG rating
Risk Level: LOW, MEDIUM, HIGH (Green, Amber, Red)
Evaluation of risk:
• The recorded parameters Apnea/Hypopnea-Index (AHI/RDI) and Autonomous
Arousal-Index (AAI) define the risk.
• The concept of „worst case“ is used.
AHI / RDI < 10/h
AAI < 30/h
AHI / RDI 10 – 15/h
AAI 30 - 40/h
AHI / RDI >= 15/h
AAI >= 40/h

Pulse wave
The pulse wave is measured by the optical methode of Photoplethysmography. The procedure is
already known from pulse oxymetrie.
Pulse waves are affected by:
•
Rhythm (heart rate), Regularity (changes or stability of frequency), Blood vessel filling,
Amplitude, Slew rate (shape of the curve), Dikrotie (second peak of the peripheral pulse
wave), Stiffnes (duris or mollis)
Respiratory events and arousals induce characteristic changes in the pulse wave. Although the
intrathoracic pressure changes are minor, the effect is consistently seen in a peripheral pulse
trace.
With an innovative algorithm and the characteristics of the pulse trace it is possible to detect the
events.
A distinction between obstructive and central events is also realised in SOMNOcheck micro. This
is a very good option for disease-specific referral.
