

same conditions and scoring procedures

Achievement (content; ex: Terra Nova)
Diagnostic (strengths/weaknesses)
Intelligence (abstract reasoning/problem
solving)
Aptitude (potential for learning)

Descriptive Statistics






Frequency Distribution - # at each score
Mean – average
Mode – most frequent score
Median – middle score
Range – distance between highest and lowest
score
Standard Deviation – variability of scores
Percentages vs. Percentiles


Percentage - # of correct items compared to the
total number of items
Percentile – ranking that compares one student
to all the others that have taken the assessment
