Beyoncé was born on September 4th
1981. She was born and raised in
Houston, Texas. Her mom’s name is
Tina Knowles and her fathers name
is Mathew Knowles. Her mother was
a costume designer and hair stylist
and her father was a professional
record manager. Her father is a
African- American and her mother is
a Louisiana, Creole, has African,
French, Native American, and Irish
ancestry.
Beyoncé was in a girl group called
Destiny’s Child which formed in 1990
in Houston, Texas. The group had 3
people, the girls names were Kelly
Rowland, Michelle Williams and
Beyoncé Knowles. They had 3
singles named Writings on the wall,
Bills Bills Bills and say my name.
Destiny’s child sold over 50 million
records worldwide. Billboard
magazine ranked the group as “one
of the greatest musical trios of all
time.” they released, an
autobiography called Soul Survivors.
The albums they released are called
8 days of Christmas, Destiny’s Child,
Destiny’s fulfilled, and Survivor
Destiny’s Child reunited for a
performance at the 2006 NBA all star
game on February 19th in Houston,
Texas. Beyoncé, at the show said
"It's the last album, but it's not the
last show” Their final performance on
TV was at the Fashions Rocks
benefit concert, the same month. On
March 28th , 2006, Destiny’s Child
got admitted into the Hollywood walk
of fame
Beyoncé didn’t go solo until 2005
permanently. When she did go solo she
had her first album released called
Dangerously in Love, which came out on
June 22,2003. Her album got five
Grammy Awards. Also her album had a lot
of collaborations with Jay-Z, Sean Paul
ect.She thought that by recording an
album by herself would be for “
liberating and therapeutic” reasons
because then her ideas would get flowing
for more collaborations with other
artists.
Beyoncé met Jay Z when she was
18, and they started dating when she
was 19. She said that she was in no
rush to get married, and that she
promised herself to not get married
before she was 25. On April, 4. 2008,
when she was 28 she married Jay Z
in New York City. Beyoncé didn’t
publically show her wedding ring
until September, 5th 2008 at the
Fashion Rocks concert.
On January 7 2012, Beyoncé gave
birth to a baby girl named Blue Ivy
Carter at Lenox Hill Hospital in New
York. 2 days after the birth of Blue
Ivy, Jay-Z released a song called
“Glory” dedicated to their daughter.
The song detailed her pregnancy
struggles and a miscarriage she
suffered before becoming pregnant
with Blue Ivy.
Beyoncé is the eighth best-selling
digital artist in the United States with
over than 30.4 million singles sold as
of January 2012. She has sold over
13 million albums in the United
States and over 75 million,
worldwide, which made her one of
the best selling musical artists of all
time. Beyoncé was ranked third on
VH1’s list of 100 Greatest Women in
Music. She has 16 Grammy Awards,
12 MTV Video Music Awards, a
Billboard millennium award and
more.
