The Boston Massacre
March 5, 1770
Boston, the capital of the province of
Massachuetts Bay was a major center of the
resistance to unpopular acts of the taxation by the
British parliament in 1760's.
The town of Boston
was very uneasy
throughtout
the1760's. This turned
to bloodshed in the
early1770's.
A group of boys called the red coats names and
hit them with rocks. They then threw snowballs at
the sentinal and dared him to fireat them.
A small group of
colonists were up to
their usual sport of
tormenting soldiers.
5-10 people died in the Boston Massacre, but they
twisted the truth to act innocent.
Rebel leader Samuel Adams knew the Boston
colonist were partly to blame for the violence, but
he saw an opportunity to turn people against the
British. Adams twisted the truth so well that many
people still believe the story the way Adams told it
today.
