YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK
By Andrew Dietz
Welcome to Yosemite!
welcome to Yosemite national park! Here we
have Yosemite valley, hiking trails, grueling
rock climbing, and beautiful sequoia groves.
I hope your stay is a good one!
Formation of the area
one factor that helped shape Yosemite is the
fact that sediment deposited in shallow water
and those rocks where metamorphosed.
Another factor is the history of volcanic
activity. Also, movement along the sierra fault
caused sierra Nevada to uplift which created
the many dome shaped or otherwise rock
formations. In addition the Sherwin glaciers
played a part in the shaping of Yosemite valley
uplift and erosion are still happening today
Becoming a national park
Yosemite's grant was signed on June 30,
1864 by president Abraham Lincoln.this was
the first instance of a park being set aside for
preservation and public use by the U.S.
government.
Rocks in Yosemite
there are many different rocks found in
Yosemite like metamorphosed igneous,
granite, sedimentary. Since there was volcanic
activity, there was igneous rock which was
then metamorphosed. the sedimentary was
helped by the Sherwin glaciers that also
helped form Yosemite valley.
Features
the most famous features of Yosemite is
Yosemite valley. It was created from glacial
carving. Another prominent feature is El
Capitan, a large, mainly granite cliff. It is very
popular with rock climbers. There are also
