The Red Rocks formation
formed 300 million years ago.
Dinosaurs migrated
north to south and
south to north for food
and water.
Fossils are usually a darker
color than the rock it’ s in.
When Colorado was under water, the
water scraped against the ocean floor
causing there to be trace fossils on the
rock we see now.
The T-Rex was the top predator in
the cretaceous period.

Crocodiles would lay on
crocodile beach and swish
their tails against the sand
and create a hole called a
basin.
Dinosaur bones and
fossils are mostly
found in sandstone.
Long necks were
humongous beasts that
could push the strong
earth down as they
walked.
There is a layer on the rock that is
brown because the mud dried up
while it was there.
The Utah raptor had a
special claw called a
killing claw. It was used
for killing prey.
