Geography.
 Geographical location: North American Tundra:
Latitude; 60o to 85o north. Longitude; 55o to 160o
 Tundra is a cold barren wasteland, includes
snow, rocks, little variety of vegetation.
Zoology
 Many different animals live







in the Arctic Tundra. They
are as follows:
Arctic fox
Caribou
Ermine
Grizzly Bear
Musk Ox
Polar Bear
Snowy Owl
Botany
 Plants of the Arctic
 All plants are adapted to
Tundra…
 Low shrubs, sedges,
reindeer mosses,
liverworts, and grass
 400 varieties of flowers.
sweeping winds and
disturbances of soil.
 Plants are short and
grouped together to
resist the cold temp. and
are protected by snow
during the winter.
Meteorology(Weather) & Human Influence
 Summer is a brief period
 Winter temps don’t reach
of milder climates when
the sun shines almost 24
hours day
 Summer only last 6-10
weeks.
 Never any warmer that
450 or 500
above 200 and average
-200 - -300
 Endless hours darkness
settle in and the winds
blow even harder.
 The Tundra is an
unusually cold, dry
