Atom Project
On the front of the paper, copy the
‘atomic block.’
• Make sure you include the symbol, name,
atomic number, and mass.
• Color the front panel according to the key you
will be given.
Inside, top half
• Draw the electron dot diagram
• Draw a simple molecule that includes your
element
• List, in bulleted form, your element’s boiling
point, melting point, kind of element (alkaline
earth metal, etc.
Also on Top
Write a paragraph describing the element’s other properties.
1. physical properties (shape, color, smell, density,
etc.)
2. Chemical properties (anything it reacts with and
bonds with)
Include a picture of your element
On the bottom half
• IN AT LEAST TWO COMPLETE PARAGRAPHS,
address the following:
• What (if any) compounds it is commonly found
in? Is it ever found alone? How is it isolated?
• Where it is found in nature, or is it man made?
• Include who discovered it or made it, and how.
• Tell me about the uses.
MODEL
• Use any material of your choice to
construct a model of the atom of your
element. The numbers of subatomic
particles (proton, neutrons, and electrons)
should be visible in the model.
• You will be required to present your block
and model to the class on the day
assigned. The presentation should be no
longer than 2 minutes and include all of
the required information.
Due Date
Projects will be
presented March
19th , 20th, or 21st
