-Structure (and support)
-Lets nutrients, waste and ions pass through it

How the Cell Wall Works
-Gives protection to the cell itself from being shapeless.
-Protects the cell membrane. It also protects it from viruses
-Allows nutrients to pass through

The Cell Nucleus
Explained by: Aaron Callahan, Chris Curran
Location of the Nucleus (- found in
only eukaryotic cells, not bacteria)
Structure of the Nucleus
How the Nucleus Functions
- Holds the Genetic Code in
the form of DNA and RNA.
Quiz: What is the only situation where someone can have the same DNA in a Nucleus?
How the Nucleus Works
-RNA is sent out of the
nucleus to code for
proteins.

Golgi Apparatus Or
Golgi Complex
By: Alyssa C and John F
Location
● Found in all plant and animal cells (eukaryotic cells)
● Flattened disc-like structures located close to the
endoplasmic reticulum
Structure
● Made of flatten stacks of membrane(phospholipid)
● 5 or 8
● Helps proteins travel from different points in the cell
using enzymes
http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/G/Golgi.html
Function
● Acts to process and package macromolecules
such as proteins and lipids that are synthesized by the cell
How It Works
● The sac floats through the cytoplasm to the Golgi
Apparatus and is absorbed.
● The secretory vesicle is created and released into the
cytoplasm.
● The vesicle moves to the cell membrane and the
molecules are released out of the cell.
● vacuoles is where proteins are stored
● Some Proteins are transported to lysosomes

Mitochondria
By: Jack and Katie
Where is the mitochondria located?
● in the cytoplasm of the cell
What is the structure of a mitochondria?
What is the function of a mitochondria?
●
●
●
●
●
●
●
●
●
Produce energy
stores calcium
keep proper number of calcium ions in cell
formation of blood components and hormones Ex:
testosterone and estrogen
helps liver to detoxify ammonia
production of heat
regulation of membrane potential
helps in biosynthesis of heme and steroids
cause programmed cell death
How does the mitochondria work?
fat,enzyme
protein, sugar
oxygen
enter the
mitochondria
The
filledand
matrix
digests
the
organic
molecules. This releases water and carbon
dioxide fromthey
theare
reaction
with the
oxygen and
used to make
energy
glucose. This creates a release of energy. The
mitochondria also works with the endoplasmic
reticulum
to
monitor
calcium
ion
concentration.
if they aren’t used properly then a lactic acid is produced and no
energy is made
