Emission Impossible
Brief to the Public:
Your mission should you choose to
accept it is: (You can choose not to and earn zero points for
the next 6 assignments, so make a wise choice)
Brief the public on the effects of global warming and an
outlook for the future by:
Individually researching a greenhouse gas (nitrous oxide,
CFCs, methane, or carbon dioxide) and preparing a written
analysis
Preparing a group written poster which includes a synoptic
evaluation of climate change for your specific country and
a proposal for action that outlines changes to be made in
the nation’s policies that will mitigate climate change and
greenhouse gas emissions
Presenting this poster during a poster session to any
Kealing students/faculty/parents
Responsibilities within the group
Each group member will focus on one of the
following greenhouse gases: Carbon dioxide,
methane, nitrous oxide, or
chlorofluorocarbons
If you are a team of three you can leave out
CFCs
Each group member will be responsible for
the group written analysis that goes on the
poster (4 different sections to be compiled)

Expectations and Grading
Group Contract- developed and signed by each
consultant in the team. Contract should include
all names of students and the greenhouse gas
they have chosen, DUE AT THE END OF CLASS
NO EXCEPTIONS!!!
I would encourage you to exchange #’s and
emails because you will have to work outside of
class to complete the mission
GRADING 2nd Six Weeks
This mission is about 75% of your 2nd weeks grade
Other grades are based on work ethic, participation in class,
and behavior
There will be a written test on the material uncovered in the
project
USE YOUR CLASS TIME WISELY!!!
EVEN IF THERE IS NO HOMEWORK ASSIGNED, IT IS UP
TO YOU AND YOUR TEAM TO PLAN DUE DATES FOR
YOURSELVES IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE MISSION
BY THE DEADLINE

Classwork Grade: Group Contract signed
Classwork Grade: research notes
Classwork grade: Rough draft of individual gas
outline
Lab Grade : written analysis for your group
Test Grade: The Poster
Lab Grade: A peer evaluation
The Final Poster:
There are 4 major written portions:
1. Intro and thesis
2. Written Analysis of Data
3. Current Policy Analysis & Evaluation
4. Initiatives and Solutions
Rubrics
The rubrics for all aspects of the project are
located in your mission packet…DO NOT LOSE
THEM
You are responsible for turning in assignments
with the rubrics that have been given to you
Failure to turn in at least one rubric with all names
on it, on the due date will result in a 10 point
deduction

What is an annotated bibliography?
This is the format that your citations and research notes
should be in
You will cite each source using MLA format
Under each citation you will evaluate the usefulness of
the information you have cited and describe specifically
which debating point it is useful evidence for
Initially you will take notes on notecards (one side will
be the source and the other will be the notes on how
this source is helpful your research)
The final annotated bibliography is typed 1-2 page
paper
