orderly and sustainable development of the ACT, consistent
with the social, environmental and economic aspirations of
the people of the ACT.

• diversity in the urban environment and greater choice in affordable,
sustainable living
• better urban amenity and social equity
• resilience to change – social, economic and the potential impacts of
climate change
focus on integrating land use and transport policies
• by distinguishing the direct public transport routes from the
‘commuter parkways’
