Why do we need NutriClean®?
Lifestyle vs. Health
Normal does not mean healthy!


TOO MUCH:
“New to nature”
molecules



Processed foods
Synthetic drugs
Environmental toxins






TOO LITTLE
Fresh Veggies
Fresh Fruits
Whole grains
Clean water
Clean air
NutriClean® is
Internal Maintenance for Health

The body must regularly process, filter and
eliminate numerous internal and external
substances to stay healthy & alive (35% of
blood is filtered by the liver every few minutes)



Internal – hormones, breakdown / waste products of
normal metabolism
External – Foods, “foods”, drugs, pollutants,
pathogenic toxins, alcohol
This is done primarily by the liver, kidneys and
GI systems
The Liver

The liver functions to metabolize nutrients,
synthesize and store vital biochemicals and
to eliminate a variety of unwanted chemicals
and toxins from the body.
It also transforms numerous substances into
needed biochemicals

Liver Detox process

PHASE I



A family of enzymes known as
cytochrome p450’s, each processes its
own class of chemicals
To detox they add oxygen to the
“toxins” to make them more water
soluble however, this also creates
reactive free radical intermediates.
There are numerous genetic variations
in CYP 450’s. (see GeneSNP)
Liver Detox - 2

PHASE 2



Conjugation enzymes bond the PHASE I
products and make them safe and even
more soluble for elimination through the
bile or via the kidneys.
There are a variety of PHASE II enzymes
e.g. glutathione, glucuronidation,
methylation, acetylation
Strongly influenced by a natural diet
Liver Detox - 3

Genetics as well as diet,
environment, stress and drugs
influences your PHASE I enzyme
activity


Some drugs speed up the enzymes
and this can produce too many free
radials
Some drugs slow them down and
that weakens natural detoxification
and may create a toxic internal
state
Metabolic waste, drugs,
pathogenic toxins, etc.

Liver’s Detox -- 4

PHASE II enzymes are primarily activated
via dietary phytonutrients

Fresh vegetables and fruits


Select Traditional Botanicals



Cruciferous veggies, many spices/seasonings (e.g.
garlic, rosemary, ginger), berries, green tea,
Milk thistle
Schizandra
Select Organics

NAC – N-acetylcysteine – a precursor to the body’s
own glutathione
GI Functions

The GI Tract is not just a piece of
plumbing, it is an active organ
involved in

Immunity – An active barrier between
you and the outside world



60% of the lymphatic system is
interwoven into the intestines called
GALT – Gut Associated Lymphyoid Tissue
Home for healthy microflora
“Unfolded” area equivalent to 2
tennis courts.
GI Function

Digestion –


An active chemical process involving numerous
enzymes and transport systems
Nutrients are typically actively transported into the
body, not just “leaked” in.



The intestines are not easily permeated (that’s a good
thing!)
Water/Electrolyte balance
Elimination of wastes

Through daily bowel movements, urination
perspiration and the breath
GI Health Concerns




~16% of Americans experience
constipation on a regular basis
More women than men by 2:1
Elderly Americans experience over twice
the rate!
Poor diet, poor hydration and lack of
exercise contribute to poor bowel health
GI Health Concerns



Poor nutrient absorption
Compromised immunity
Skin conditions
Historical Remedies for a Healthy
GI tract


Since Ancient times cultures worldwide
have used diet and natural botanicals to
increase peristalsis and maintain bowel
health.
Some of the “peristaltic” botanicals
included

Cascara sagrada, aloe, rhubarb, buckthorn
etc.`
Historical Remedies for a Healthy
GI tract

Botanicals that support bowel health
include:


Scutellaria, oregon grape, walnut husks,
golden seal – herbs that to help promote
bowel health
Botanicals are typically not used on a
regular basis, but they are used for
short spans of time periodically.

You should address lifestyle/diet issues if
you need them daily
Historical Remedies for a Healthy
GI tract

Probiotic organisms (MicroFlora)

For centuries cultures worldwide have used a variety
of healthful microflora (probiotics) to sustain a
healthy body

Many of the longest lived societies consume them
regularly


Antibiotics create a need for probiotic consumption.


Americans overuse antibiotics (drugs & food supply)
Probiotics need to be given in high amounts



Georgia, Azerbaijan, Ecuador, Himalayas
Over 1 billion per dose to be effective
Regular consumption
Recent studies show that even “dead” probiotics
have immune benefits (via cell wall polysaccharides)
Fiber

Our ancestors consumed 5 -10 times as
much fiber as we do today



Considerably more fresh veggies, whole
grains and fresh fruits
The average American diet contains only
a mere 11 grams of fiber per day!
The American Diabetes Association.
American Cancer Society and American
Heart Association recommend 25 – 35
grams per day.
Fiber Benefits






Help maintain healthy levels of cholesterol
Help maintain healthy levels of triglycerides
Help maintain healthy levels of glucose
Help maintain healthy intestinal regularity
Help maintain healthy intestinal microflora
 (i.e. food for the “good” bacteria)
Help maintain a biofilm in the GI tract
Fibersol 2 (Soluble Fiber)




Unique soluble fiber from corn
Not absorbed into the blood
stream
Offers all of the benefits of fiber
previously listed
Scientifically studied
