Wisdom for Living -
The Lord is Our King!
• Looking for an exciting
new hobby to take up?
• The secret things belong
to the Lord our God, but
the things revealed belong
to us and to our children
forever, that we may
follow all the words of his
law. (Deuteronomy 29:29).
1 – Know the Truth
About God
• 16:4 'The LORD works out
everything for his own ends even the wicked for the day of
disaster.'

hand of the LORD; he directs it

pleases.'

1 – Know the Truth
About God
• Is there room for chance?
Bad Luck? 16:33 'The lot is
cast into the lap, but its every
decision is from the LORD.'
• Does that rule out MY
responsibility for MY actions?
• 16:27 'A scoundrel plots evil,
and his speech is a scorching
fire.' A sinner is a sinner –
he is not a puppet!

2 – Know Your Limits (16:9)
• Proverbs 16:9 – a mirror of Acts
2:22 - 'Men of Israel. Listen to
this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man
accredited by God to you by
miracles, wonders and signs,
which God did among you through
him, as you yourselves know. This
man was handed over to you by
God's set purpose and
foreknowledge; and you, with the
help of wicked men, put him to
death by nailing him to the cross.
But God raised him from the dead
In his heart a
man plans his
course, but the
LORD determines
his steps
Prov. 16:9

• Remember the 5 Sparrows!
• Dr D Broughton Knox: The
infinity of God is not
overwhelmed by numbers,
nor stupefied by detail. God
is able to comprehend, and
provide for at the same time,
the needs of the whole
creation. Our heavenly
Father gives each of us his
undivided attention and his
full friendship as though we
were his only friend…
