at practice materials, manipulatives,
the student edition of the text from
home, and other great resources.

Social Studies



Beginning in the Age of Exploration,
students progress forward in time to
the founding of the United States of
America.
Students also gain an understanding
of American geography (name all 50
states, abbreviations, capitols)
Piloting lessons from new TCI
curriculum.
Geography Quizzes

Each Tuesday, students in social
studies will be assigned Daily
Geography and a Mystery State.
There is a quiz on Tuesday on the
three states we learned the previous
week.

Spanish in 5th Grade



Students have 80 minutes of Spanish
per week.
Senora Arosemena teaches the class.
Students keep a notebook (binder) of
all materials and are immersed in the
language.
What Happens this Year


Students gain a greater sense of
independence. Students take
responsibility for their work.
Expectations grow as we prepare
students for the Junior School.







Homework is assigned on a nightly
basis.
20 minutes of reading EVERY night.
Math homework varies with what was
covered in class.

Homework is expected to be turned in
on time.
Missed homework must be made up.
