Commutative Properties of + and x
Associative Properties of + and x
Identity Property of + and x
Zero Property of x
Multiplicative Property of -1
Commutative Property
Commute means to move
X+3=3+x
or
X (3) = 3(x)
Associative Property
Associate means to be grouped with
(a + b) + c = a + (b + c)
Or
(a • b) • c = a • (b • c)
Identity Property
The identity will not be changed
a+0=a
Or
a•1=a
Zero Property of Multiplication
Anything multiplied by 0 is 0.
a•0=0
Multiplication Property of -1
Multiplying by -1 will always give you the
opposite of the original quantity.
