How do I solve multiplication
problems without a calculator?
There are two different ways to solve
multiplication problems without a
calculator:
Repeated Addition
Making Groups (also known as
drawing a picture)
Repeated Addition
Repeated addition occurs when you
add a number to itself a given
number of times.
For example:
4x5
4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 20
Making Groups
Another way to solve multiplication
problems, is to make groups or draw a
picture.
For example:
3x3
