• An optimal diet before and during pregnancy can
improve the chance of a healthy newborn baby, a
healthy mom, and a healthy future for both
• Recent studies suggest that nutritional deficiencies
during the first trimester increase the risk of certain
chronic diseases later in the infant’s life
• An optimal diet provides enough, but not too many,
