O-Week Music Festival
Kick off the new academic year with a bang, and most of all
have lots of fun! Follow us on Facebook at UniSA Gear Up for
more info, including band and competition announcements!
When: Wednesday 27th February 2013 from 12pm-8pm
Where: City West Campus
In 2013, UniSA will host the first ever Gear Up event - a music &
arts festival for ALL UniSA students! Join us for the biggest party of
the year to welcome all new students and welcome back continuing
students to UniSA.
What's happening on the day?
Two stages with around 20 performers, including national
headliners and a great selection of Adelaide bands, and a huge
variety of food and drink vendors.
Our talented art students & graduates will decorate the campus with
chalk art, graffiti art, and artistic installations. Clubs & societies will
also be on campus to entertain with pop-up performances.
UniSA students can enter several exciting competitions including a
meet & greet with the headline act, free band merchandise, or even
a prize to watch the main-act from the stage sidelines.
Whose invited and what does it cost?
FREE for all UniSA students and staff! The event is open for
anyone else at a cost of $30 (tickets through Fringe-Tix). Gear Up
is an all-ages show, however, alcohol will be served at the event
(minors will be strictly monitored).

Criminal History Screening
ALL students who will be completing a professional experience placement or
carrying out educational activities with minors MUST have a Criminal History
Screening clearance.
With your letter of acceptance and in your pre-enrolment sessions you would have
received information regarding this.
You need to prioritise submitting your Criminal History Screening application as
UniSA cannot begin to place you in sites without a Criminal History Screening
clearance.
Preference will be given to those with this documentation completed. The screening
process is undertaken by Department for Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI).
UniSA will only accept this form of clearance.

Print off all 5 pages of the Criminal History Application
Complete all sections on the application form
Gather all your relevant 100 point identification documentation and take to a
responsible person in the requesting organisation, a Justice of the Peace or
Commissioner for taking Affidavits (Solicitor, Barrister or Proclaimed Police
Officer) for certification.
Go to any Australia Post outlet within South Australia to submit your Criminal
History application
Fee Charged : $42.40 payable on application submission

Office and there is an expectation that this communication is of a
professionally
literate standard. Email is to be from your student email (UniSA).
Students should read their emails regularly to ensure that they do not miss

When in sites/schools it is a
requirement for identification purposes
that you wear your name badge.
To order a name badge :
1. Make a payment of $10 to Campus

2. On your receipt - mark your
preferred name
3. Place your receipt in the Assignment

foyer of the deLissa building (Gbuilding) at Magill and at Mawson
Lakes at Reception
4. You will be contacted once your
name badge is ready for collection.
Polo Shirts
Whilst on Professional Experience Placement , students
should adhere to the dress code /standards of their
allocated site.
UniSA polo shirts are available. Cost = $28.00
To order:
1. Go to Campus Central to pay for the polo.
2. Bring the Receipt to the School of Education
Reception (Magill or Mawson Lakes) where you will be
asked the colour and size you would prefer. (Samples
will be available to try on samples for sizing)
3. Your Polo shirt will be ordered and you will be notified
by email when it is ready for collection.

Electives (Minor) Courses
The addition of 4 or 5 electives enable you to take a minor in another
subject area. This means you can teach that subject to year 10.
Alternatively electives can broaden your understanding of Home
Economics or Design and Technology. The 4 electives need to be in the
same area of study.
You will need to complete three content courses and one methodology
course.

If you are considering teaching in the country, you may wish to apply for a country teaching scholarship.
$10,000 Country Teaching Scholarships supports undergraduate and post graduate students in any year of a teacher education
course with a commitment to country teaching.
Round 2 2013 application forms will be available from mid January 2013.
$20,000 Country Teaching Scholarships supports final year undergraduate and post graduate teacher education students
committed to teaching in rural and remote schools in the Eyre & Western and Far North regions.

Open to full and part-time students undertaking Home Economics at an Australian tertiary institution. Awards are made for
a one year approved study program and scholarship holders may apply annually for awards for up to a total of three years
full-time study. The scholarship is currently valued at $5000. There are 30 scholarships available each year

The Construction Industry Training Board Design and Technology scholarship

The Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Design and Technology Scholarships will provide funds to assist students with
the cost of the student contribution amount for a Commonwealth supported place during the third and fourth year of the degree
of Bachelor of Education (Design and Technology Education) at UniSA. The call for applications will be during November of the
2nd year of the program. The value of the scholarship is 100% of the HECS payments for the third and fourth year of full-time
study in the degree.

D&T students in their second year of study

• $10,000 (metro) scholarships supports year 12 students, undergraduate and post graduate students in any year of a teacher
education course who will be qualified to teach Design & Technology (Materials) to Year 12.
• $20,000 (country) scholarships supports year 12 students, undergraduate and post graduate students in any year of a
teacher education course who will be qualified to teach Design & Technology (Materials) to Year 12 and have a commitment to
country teaching.
Eligibility: Design & Technology students in their 1st, 2nd and 3rd year (including postgraduate students)
