IB Registration Fee: $175/student
IB Subject Fees:
$120/subject x 6 = $720 total
Partial Shipping (IA, EA, EE): $80
Total = $975
Fee reduction for qualifying Kaiser pays IB annual fee of
students, depending on the approximately $10K
student’s state and funding.
Most four-year colleges in the United States
provide credit and/or advanced placement
for qualifying scores.
The most selective institutions do not award
credits for IBDP and AP courses/scores but
expect students to have taken advantage of
these programs.
Students need to research their specific
institution’s policies.
How will these courses affect my
grades?
•All AP courses are graded on a 5 point scale.
•All IBDP Higher Level (HL) courses are graded on
a 5 point scale.
•Running Start courses are graded on a 4 point
scale.
•If you receive an F or don’t take the exam(s) for
any reason, you will be graded on a regular 4-point
scale and your course will be reported as a
“regular” course on your transcript.
What is RUNNING START?
•statewide program that provides an opportunity for
academically qualified juniors and seniors to enroll in
college classes through the University of Hawaiʻi system as
part of their high school coursework.
•allows public high school students to attend college
classes during the fall, spring, and summer while earning
both high school and college credits. Currently, nine UH
campuses participate in the Running Start program.
Running Start Considerations
•All approved RS credits earned count as
ELECTIVE credit only at Kaiser High School.
•Not all community college credits will transfer to
other 4 year universities.

•Academic progress at the end of this school year
•Teacher recommendation
•See individual departments for pre-enrollment
procedures.
Other considerations…
Summer Work Requirements:
•Some AP and IBDP Courses require summer work
to be completed prior to the start of the school year.
•Ask about what those requirements are before
registering for a course.
•Summer work will be available electronically in late
April 2015.
Academic Honors diploma requirements
for the Class of 2016 and on…
– 4 credits of Math: The 4th credit beyond Algebra 2 must be earned via
a combination of the following half-credit courses (or equivalent IB
math courses): Algebra 3, Trigonometry, Analytic Geometry,
Precalculus.
– 4 credits of Science: Of the four credits, one credit must be in Biology
1 (or equivalent IB Biology; or AP Biology courses); and the other
three credits must be lab-based science credits.
– Two credits minimum must be from
AP/IBDP/Running Start courses (equivalent to
credits for 2 college courses).

IBDP
Students interested in IBDP should see Mr. Bogard before you
leave this evening. The early application deadline has passed but
students may still submit an application by Nov. 24.
Running Start
Students interested in the Running Start program should make an
appointment to see their grade level counselor to begin the
planning process.
How do I Sign-Up?
AP
•Meet with the AP Teacher(s) for the course(s) you are thinking about
taking tonight.
•Learn about course expectations
•Find out about what kind of commitment it will take in order to
succeed.
•Review the course syllabus
•Ask questions
If you and your family agree that AP is for you:
•Show your teacher your completed AP Agreement form
•Ask the teacher for a registration course label for your card.
•Turn in the AP Agreement form and your registration card in KAP on
Nov. 26.
Relax…
There is no reason to RUSH the tables tonight.
Nothing is going to RUN OUT.
Remember, getting an AP Label does not
guarantee your spot in the course.
Most importantly, you must submit your
registration card on time with a complete AP
Policy and Agreement form.

tomorrow during KAP Class.
•Registration cards are due on Nov. 26 in KAP Class.
