What is even and odd number?
Even number
An even number as a number that can be divided into two equal
groups with no leftovers. The numbers 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18,
and 20 are all even numbers.
Odd number
An odd number cannot be divided into two equal groups without
leftovers. The numbers 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 are all
odd numbers.
Zero
Zero is an even number!
Questions: Is the number of birds even or
odd?
Answer: First, we count the number of the
birds. There has 3 birds and we know 3 is
an odd number.
The birds cannot be matched in pairs. There
is one left over with no matching pair. The
number of birds is odd.
Remember: An even number of objects can be
matched in pairs. An odd number of objects
cannot be matched in pairs.
