• There are approximately 5,800 taxis on the road,
• Under 600 are the new annual as-of-right licences
• Competitive responses are beginning to appear
eg; the introduction of silver taxi fleets.

Perpetual Licences
Metro licence prices have remained stable for approximately
18 months. The number of licence transfers also indicates there
continues to be demand.
Perpetual Licences
Metro assignment prices have now stabilised and sits above the
annual licence fee.

The Knowledge
Pass rates
Pass rates and average scores are improving, as drivers
dedicate more time to studying and understanding their
responsibilities.
234 people have the Knowledge

Many drivers very close to attaining the Knowledge.
What are applicants failing?
Questions in the Knowledge with a high fail rate are consistent with
the type of complaints received by the TSC.
These include:
1. Basic communication skills
2. Use of Mobile Phones
3. Fatigue management
4. Responsibilities after an accident
5. Road rules
Applicants need to know their responsibilities as a taxi or hire car
driver in order to pass the Knowledge.

Further reforms
The TSC continues to encourage innovation and competition to ensure a
broader range of service offerings for passengers.
