HV Plate Design
HV plate components:
Thin plate
Single sided circuit
Provide HV grouping for straw
Thick plate
Plan FR4 precision machined part
Determines:
– Module alignment on support frame
– Straw locations
Kapton sheet
Double+ sided kapton circuit
Brings HV from fuse box to straw HV
group
Brings grounding to shell
Only on one side of the module.

HV Plate Features
Thin plate:
0.2mm thick, fits inside thick plate.
Straw hole size: 4.5mm, 0.1mm >
thick plate hole size: 4.4mm
Thick plate:
Flush to shell, sets module length.
0.25mm from support frame in Z
0.4mm indent along radial sides for
kapton sheet feed-through.
5mm spacing from bottom to tension
plate is in active gas. Capacitor
barrel functions as stand off.
Cooling tube feed-through at acute
corner is outside of gas volume

HV plate feature
Kapton sheet:
Trace width = 0.3mm,
thickness = 0.038mm
Trace offset when overlap = 0.35mm
center-center.
Traces run equi-distant between
straws.
Resistor pad is next to capacitor
socket and inside straw HV group

HV plate assembly
Glue 3 plates together
Use tra-bond 2115. Brush on think
plate and kapton sheet
Use capacitor sockets for alignment
Compress and let cure
Solder capacitor sockets
Solder on thin plate side and on
kapton side to complete circuit
Flow solder around socket for gas
seal
Solder resistors on kapton
