Chapter Two
Lesson One
The Land Between Two Rivers
Mesopotamia is
located between the
Tigris and Euphrates
Rivers.
Called the “Fertile
Crescent” for rich
farmland.
The first settlers were
farmers and fisherman.
Working With Water
Flooding provided silt, a
rich mixture of rock and
soil.
Silt made the nearby land
possible to farm.
Drought or times without
rain made farming difficult.
Irregular flooding and
droughts caused
Mesopotamians to find
was of getting water to
their fields. This was
Irrigation.
