Transcript Past Simple
Regular & Irregular Verbs
We use the Past Simple to talk about an
action or situation that happened in the past.
We often say when it happened:
. Time expressions such as yesterday, ago, in
2007, in April, last month, etc. usually come
at the beginning or at the end of a sentence.
. Today, this morning, this afternoon, this
evening, etc. can be past time markers if they
mean before now.
We form the Past Simple of regular verbs by
adding –ed to the verb: work → worked
Many verbs have an Irregular Past Simple
form: take → took
In the past tense, the verb form is the same
for all persons:
I walked to school yesterday.
