- What about transport? It’s a big city, how can I get
around?
- Well, I’d recommend taking the subway. In movies
you see people taking taxis all the time, but taxis are
actually quite expensive and traffic can be very bad.
- OK, thanks. Is the subway expensive in NY?
- It is. To use it, you need to buy a MetroCard in special
vending machines.
- Is it safe to walk around in NY?
- NY is not the safest city, so make sure you are in well-lit
and crowded areas. Even during the day, you should be
careful with your bag. You have to use your common
sense. Also, people in NY are usually in a hurry, so it is not
a good idea to ask them questions. It’s best to ask a
police officer.
- What should I see if I have some free time?
- You simply must go to Manhattan. You’ll love it!
