The verb is a word
that expresses an
action or state of
being.

The basic form of the
verb is the infinitive form.
In English, infinitive verbs
are preceded by the word
“to.”
In Spanish, infinitive
verbs end in ar, er and ir.

Before you start conjugating verbs you need to know that
there are REGULAR and IRREGULAR verbs
Like in the English language,
Spanish verbs can be
regular or irregular.
The difference is that
irregular verbs do not follow
the regular verbs
conjugation pattern.

conjugated in different
tenses. Here you’ll find
the present tense
conjugation for
ar verbs. See next slide.

Step 1: Eliminate the Infinitive form
In orther to conjugate a verb in
present tense, first you have to
“get rid” of the
ar, er, ir ending of the verb.

Step 2: Memorize the Present tense conjugation
of regular “ar” verbs.

hablar - to speak
yo hablo……………………..I speak
tú hablas……………………you speak
él/ella habla…………………he/she speaks
nosotros(as) hablamos……we speak
ustedes/ellos(as) hablan…..you/they speak
Note: er, and ir verbs are conjugated differently.
