Action Verbs
Students will:
Identify action verbs
The main word in the predicate is the verb.
Most verbs are action verbs.
An action verb shows what the subject
does or did.
Example:
› The ball flew over the plate.
› Jill pitches the ball.
› Roberto swings the bat.
› Roberto ran to first base.
People admire Mildred Ella “Babe”
Didrikson as an all round athlete.
At sixteen she joined an excellent
women’s basketball team.
She scored a hundred points in one
game!
During that same period, she won
medals as a swimmer.
