How to use reflexive verbs?
• You need a reflexive pronoun in front of
the verb
– Me
– Te
– Se
-Nos
-Os
-Se
• These act as object pronouns, NOT
subject pronouns.
• The purpose is to show the action remains
with the subject.
• Once you have the reflexive pronoun you
then just conjugate the verb.
• The reflexive pronoun and verb will
represent the same person
• I wash my face. Me lavo la cara.
• I broke my leg. Me roto la pierna.
Doler is special
• Doler will have the same reflexive
pronouns (me, te, se, nos, os, se), but now
the verb is conjugated for what is hurting.
• It will only be conjugated two ways
– Duele (singular item that hurts- ex: head)
– Duelen (plural item that hurts- ex: feet)
– My feet hurt. Me duelen los pies
