Tense.
 Use to express the idea than an action
started and finished at a specific time
in the past.

 We use it to list a series of completed
actions in the past. These actions occur
in a time sequence.
I arrived at home, ate

dinner,
did

homework, and went to

 Can be used with a duration which
starts and end in the past.
