RUN14 is going very well
• 40 days in 200 GeV run
• PHENIX goal (1.5/nb=10 Billion events)
• ~2/3 of the goal is reached in 40 days: 65 days to go.
RUN14 is going very well
~0.04/nb/day
• Recording approximately 0.04/nb/day in |z|<10cm
• If we keep the pace, we can reach ~3.5/nb in
|z|<10cm, more than twice of the original goal
VTX is working well
Pixel live area
StriPixel live area
• VTX is in the best condition
• Live area in CM acceptance:
B0:98% B1:83% B2: 95% B3: 84%
Main Purpose of this RUN is to measure heavy quark production with VTX
• Part 1 of RUN14, 15 GeV Au+Au, was complete
• Part 2 and main part of RUN14, 200 GeV Au+Au is
going very well
– PHENIX can reach >twice of the luminosity goal
– VTX is working very well
– This will be great data set for heavy quark
measurement and other physics
• There is ~1 week of “contingency” at the end of
the run. The use of this part is now under
discussion. One possibility is He3+Au
Issue: Shift Crisis
SL
DO
• Evening shift SL was filled at the last minutes
• SL and DO of Owl shift of this week was not filled. John
Haggerty was filling the both position now.
– I will help as SL from Saturday for the rest
• Many unfilled shift positions in the coming weeks, in
particular in the OWL shift
• “Quota” of shift is now 1.6 shifts/person
– Longer run
– Travel restriction on Russian
• Please fill at least one shift block if you haven’t done.
