haiku-a single thought expressed in three nonrhyming lines. The first line has 5 syllables,

line has 5 syllables. Haiku very often describe
subjects from nature.

months poem-a series of couplets about the

subject poem-acrostic poem in which the
letters of the subject are used to start each line;
the subject line is written vertically, and the word

phone number poem- a seven line poem
written in a non-rhyming pattern; each
line must contain a certain amount of
syllables. This poem can be written about
any subject.

ABC poetry- does not always make good
sense, but they are fun and challenging.
The complete alphabet can be used in one
poem, or sections can be used for shorter
poems.
Must use 7 letters or more!

limerick- is an amusing verse of five lines. Lines 1,2, and 5
rhyme and lines 3 and 4 rhyme. Lines 4 and 5 refer to
line 1. Lines 3 and 4 are usually shorter than the
others.
directions:
1. The first line is almost always begins with “ There once
was…”
2. Additional information is told. ( must ryhme with line 1)
3. two short, snappy lines that rhyme
4. These lines give more information about the person, or
details about the story.
5. It rhymes with the first two lines.It ends the story
with completes the description of the person
people poem- a poem that tells about a person’s character, talent,
or accomplishments

directions:
1. Name the person who the subject of the poem
2. Give description using words connected by “and” or “but”
3. Using an adverb and a verb to describe an action

senses; It is a non-rhyming poem and it is
shaped like a triangle.
