Phrasal Verbs Phrasal Verbs คือ กริยาที่ประกอบด้ วยส่ วนที่เป็ นกริยา ( verb ) และคาอื่น ( มักเป็ นคาบุพบท ) เมื่อรวมกันแล้ ว ความหมายมักเปลีย่ นแปลงไปจากเดิม เช่ น give up , get up Inseparable Verbs with no objects คือ phrasal verb ที่ต้องติดกัน ไม่ สามารถแยกจากกันได้ ไม่ ต้องมีกรรม เช่ น set off ออกเดินทาง Wake up ตื่นนอน Come in เข้ ามาถึง Carry on ทาต่ อไป Grow up เติบโต Speed up เร่ งความเร็ว Stand up ยืนขึน้ Get on ขึน้ (รถ)/เข้ ากันได้ Find out เรียนรู้ Turn up ปรากฏตัว Seattle down ตั้งรกราก ลงหลักปักฐาน Example : The plane will set off at 6 o’clock Inseparable Verbs with objects คือ phrasal verb ทีต่ ้ องอยู่ติดกัน ไม่ สามารถแยกจากกันได้ แต่ ต้องมีกรรม เช่ น Look after เลีย้ งดู Run into ชน Take after เหมือนถอด แบบ Go off ออกไป จากไป หยุดทางาน Look into สอบถาม ตรวจสอบ Come across พบโดยบังเอิญ Deal with ติดต่ อ เกีย่ วข้ อง Cope with จัดการ Example : The parents look after their children. Separable verbs Separable verbs ที่แยกจากกันได้ มักจะต้ องการกรรม Turn on เปิ ด(ไฟ) Turn down หรี่ (เสี ยง) Look up มองหา Try on ลองสวม Turn off ปิ ด (ไฟ) Switch off ปิ ด Take off ถอด ออกดินทาง วางกรรมตรงไว้ หน้ า หรื อ หลัง preposition ก็ได้ Example : Please turn off the light before going out off.
