




Oxygen- used for living things to breath, also used in
welding, also, scientists use oxygen isotopes 16 and 18
in skeletons to find our what the climate was like
thousands of years ago.
Sulfur-is turned into sulfuric acid and manufactured for
fertilizers and also found in batteries.
Selenium-is sensitive to light and is also a semiconductor.
Tellurium-is used for tinting glass and for ceramics.
Polonium-used in anti-static brushes to remove
negatives and prints.

Oxygen was discovered in 1774 by Joseph
Priestly.
Sulfur is often used in matches.
Selenium is obtained primarily as a byproduct of electrolytic copper refining.
Tellurium was discovered by Franz-Joseph
Muller von Reichensteinin 1782.
Polonium is very rare and is a highly
radioactive metal.
