What Have We Achieved?
• The Plan is legally compliant with EU and UK
legislation
• We have demonstrated a considerable level of
consultation
• We are consistent with NPPF guidance
– We have addressed the economic, social and
environmental issues
• The quality of documentation is exemplary
– “A plan fit for purpose”

Effect of MVDC Local Plan Revision
• Revised Strategic Housing Market Assessment
– Larger number of dwellings required
• Revised Local Plan for 2018
– Will need to review our plan against this
– The mandate for the Forum expires in July 2018!

Why Has the Examiner Made Changes?
• To ensure that policies can be applied
consistently
• To make them more concise
– Eg. Avoid repeating existing (MV) policy
• To provide flexibility so that local character
can be taken into account
– Addresses a number of comments received

What Do we Need to Decide Today
• Whether the changes fundamentally
alter what we had in mind
– If we are satisfied we maintain the current
timetable
– If we are not satisfied we may need to repeat the
process from submission, ie March/April
• What we cannot do is:
– Introduce new aspects
– Broaden the scope of policies
