• Offer from employers:
– pay - 1% increase to all pay points on the national 51
point scale (c.f. increase for VCs of 3%, bringing their
average pay to £272k)
– the potential of further joint work on gender pay
– the potential of further joint work in regards to casual
and zero hours contracts
– no agreement on external examiner pay rates or
minimum rates of pay for each occupational group.
– no agreement to set up a Scottish subcommittee of
negotiating machinery.
Pay Claim
• Strike ballot
– Opened 14 April
– Closes 5 May
– Important to support both strike action and action
short of a strike
Casualisation
• Formal reference sent to HR for consultation
– Fractional equivalent post offer: at least 108 hours
of teaching (0.2 FTE) for a period of 2 years
– Review mechanism fro staff on fractional contracts
plus part-time hourly paid AL contracts ongoing
for 2 years.
– Joint review with UCU of all non-permanent
academic contracts to increase job security,
continuity of employment and opportunities for
career progression.
