Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant
Contractors
• Swift and Staley Team
• Teaming partners of Swift and Staley Mechanical,
Wastren Advantage, Incorporated, and Northwind.
• Responsible for Facility Support Services at the Paducah
Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah, Kentucky.
• Awarded fixed price contract in December 2015.

Contractors
• Fluor Federal Services (FFS)
• Teaming partners of Fluor, Los Alamos Technical
Associates, and Chicago Bridge & Iron.
• FFS is responsible for the management, integration and
execution of the deactivation and post-GDP shutdown
remediation activities at the Paducah site.
• FFS is assumed responsibilities for enrichment and
support facilities in October, 2014.
• FFS supports DOECAP.
• Responsible for most environmental samples at
Paducah site.

Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant
Contractors
• BWXT Conversion Services (BWCS)
• Company has corporate headquarters in Lexington, KY
and plant operations in Paducah, KY and Portsmouth,
OH
• Comprised of Babcock & Wilcox Technical Services
Group (B&WTSG), a wholly owned subsidiary of
Babcock & Wilcox and URS Energy and Construction, a
subsidiary of URS.
• Operating contractor for the DUF6 project.
• Facilities currently shutdown, but startup expected
soon.
• New contractor to be announced shortly.

Accomplishments
Deactivation and Environmental Remediation
• Drained, packaged, and shipped lube oil from process buildings some
of which will be reused as a cleaning agent.
• Drained, packaged, and shipped PCB transformer oil from 66 process
buildings PCB Transformers.
• Began removal of R-114 refrigerant from the gaseous diffusion plant
for safer deposit removal activities.
• Initiated the Deactivation of the C-400 facilities.
• Ten systems that will remove uranium deposits from the gaseous
diffusion plant, the first of their kind, are on site.
• Completed D&D of 11 facilities to support footprint reduction.
• Completed SWMU 1 deep soil mixing to remove TCE contamination
from soil.

Fissile Deinventory
• Developed program to handle
fissile material as part of the
fissile deinventory project.
• Over 100 people were trained
to safely remove fissile
material in facilities that have
ceased operations.
• Almost 230 pieces of fissile
waste from the C-720
Maintenance and Stores
building have been removed.
162 total containers of waste
have been generated.

• Dispositioned more than 240,000
gallons of lube oil from the
process buildings
• Dispositioned more than 94,000
gallons of PCB transformer oil
from Building C-337
• Developed four authorization
limit packages for offsite
treatment/disposition of lube oil
and PCB transformer oil; and
• Performed a paper and site Audit
of the Veolia Incinerator Facility in
Port Arthur, Texas.

• The lube oil removal project has shipped 995 tons of waste offsite in
tanker trucks.
• A total of 1015 tons of PCB oil from PCB transformers have been
remove and shipped offsite in containers.
