• National day of action on 22nd August 2014
• Over 300 Police Officers involved
• Partners included Trading Standards, National Crime Agency,
Europol, Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, British Transport
Police, Health and Safety, Scottish Police Authority, Her
Majesties Revenue and Customs, Crown Office Procurator
Fiscal Service, Environmental Health, National Health Service,
Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority, The
Angelus Foundation
Results
• 58 premises visited
• 6,000 packets of NPS seized, consisting of 231 differently
branded products.
• Over 3,000 tablets recovered.
• 330Kg of Damiana recovered.
• Substantial quantities of chemicals seized.
• £1,525 cash recovered.
• £406,000 of assets identified for restraint.
• 6 persons charged with Reckless Conduct.
Psychoactive Substances Act 2016
• It will be an offence to produce, supply, offer to supply, possess
with intent to supply, import or export psychoactive substances;
that is, any substance intended for human consumption that is
capable of producing a psychoactive effect. (with the exception
of certain substances)
• Possession of a psychoactive substance will not be an
offence, except in a ‘custodial institution’ (prison, young
offender centre etc.).
