Masters courses
• Number of people studying a Masters course has
increased by almost 20% in the last 10 years
• Nearly twice as many students now on courses that
include an Integrated Masters (2012-13) compared
to five years ago
• 7 out of 10 employers actively seek to recruit
graduates with Masters level qualification
What is an Integrated Masters?
• Four year degrees combining undergraduate
and postgraduate level study
• Students graduate with a dual qualification
called integrated degrees of Master of Biology
and Bachelor of Science in XXX (MBiol, BSc)
• The degrees are known as MBiol for short
• Designed for students wishing to pursue a
career as a professional scientist in industry
or academia, or wishing to prepare for a PhD
