The Hadeeth
Chapter: Regarding Those who are Displeased with
Swearing by Allaah
(( Do not take oaths by your fathers’ (names)! Whoever takes
an oath by Allaah must be honest. Whoever is asked to take
an oath by Allaah should be content (with that), and whoever is
not content (with Allaah) is not from Allaah. ))

The First Hadeeth
Chapter: Saying “It is as Allaah and So-and-So Willed”
Qutaylah said that a Jew came to the Prophet (may Allaah raise his rank and
grant him peace) and said, “You people commit shirk, saying: It is as Allaah
and you have willed, and swearing by the Ka’bah.” So the Prophet (may
Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) ordered them when they wanted to
take an oath to do so saying, “By the Lord of the Ka’bah,” and to say, “It is as
Allaah willed, and then as you have willed.” [ Collected by an-Nasaa’ee. ]

Ibn ‘Abbaas said: A man said to the Prophet (may Allaah raise his

The Third Hadeeth
Chapter: Saying “It is as Allaah and So-and-So Willed”
… (( Have you told anyone? )) Yes. (( … As for what follows: Tufayl
has seen a dream that he has told some of you about, and you have
said a word that something was preventing me from forbidding you
from. Now, do not say, “It is as Allaah and Muhammad have willed!”
Instead, say: “It is as Allaah alone has willed.” ))
