Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
Mirza Abdu'lFadl—the great
Bahá‘í scholar—
said that 1/3rd of
the Qur'an refers
to the coming of
the Báb and
Bahá'u'lláh.
Muslim
Objections
to
the
Bahá’í
Faith
the Guardian would certainly
" ...
advise, and even urge the friends to
make a thorough study of the Qur'an
as the knowledge of this Sacred
Scripture is absolutely indispensable
for every believer who wishes to
adequately understand and
intelligently read the Writings of
Baha'u'llah."
—LOG #1904, p.561
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
“From the standpoint of institutionalism
Islam far surpasses true Christianity as
we know it in the Gospels. There are
infinitely more laws and institutions in
the Qur'án than in the Gospel. While the
latter's emphasis is mainly, not to say
wholly, on individual and personal
conduct, the Qur'án stresses the
importance of society.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
This social emphasis acquires added
importance and significance in the
Bahá'í Revelation. When carefully and
impartially compared, the Qur'án marks
definite advancement on the Gospel,
from the standpoint of spiritual and
humanitarian progress.”
—Lights of Guidance, #1664, p.495.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
ARGUMENT
PROOF
There can be no
prophet after
Muhammad.
Muhammad was the
‘seal’ (last) of the
prophets.
Muhammad is not the
father of any man
among you, but he is
the Apostle of God,
and the seal of the
prophets: and God
knoweth all things.

BAHA’I RESPONSE
Two types of
messengers are
identified in the
quotation:
Apostles and
prophets.

the Apostle of God,
and the seal of the

(Rodwell)
BAHA’I RESPONSE
The Qur’an was
revealed in Arabic.
In Arabic an
Apostle is a Rasul
(Rah-Sool).
A prophet is a Nabi
(Naw-Bee).

among you, but he is
the Apostle of God,
and the seal of the

knoweth all things.
—The Confederates 33:40
(Rodwell)
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Apostles bring a
Book (Revelation).
Prophets do not.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I PROOF
And commemorate
Moses in "the Book;"
for he was a man of
purity: moreover he
was an Apostle, a
Prophet ... And we
bestowed on him in
our mercy his brother
Aaron, a Prophet.
—Mary 19:52-54 (Rodwell)
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Apostles bring a
Book (Revelation).
Prophets do not.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I PROOF
Apostles Who
Brought Books:
• Abraham brought the
Scrolls.
• Moses brought the Torah.
• Christ brought the New
Testament (Evangel).
• Muhammad brought the
Qur’án.
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Apostles bring a
Book (Revelation).
Prophets do not.
Prophets are under
the law and
Revelation of an
Apostle.

ARGUMENT
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Muhammad is not the
father of any man
among you, but he is
the Apostle of God,
and the seal of the
prophets: and God
knoweth all things.
Therefore,
Muhammad is
the ‘seal’ of the
prophets—not
the seal of the
Apostles
(Manifestations).

BAHA’I RESPONSE
“Every rasul
[Apostle] is
necessarily a nabi
[prophet]; however
the reverse is not
true.”
—A Popular Dictionary of
Islam, Curzon Press: London,
1992, 187.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
ARGUMENT
What proof have
you that there
will be no more
prophets?
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Every prophet
from the time of
Adam prophesied
the ‘Day of
Judgement’ or the
‘Day of God.’
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
ARGUMENT
What proof have
you that there
will be no more
prophets?
BAHA’I RESPONSE
The Day of the
fulfillment of
those prophecies
has come! There
is no more need to
prophesy that Day
after it has come.

ARGUMENT
PROOFS
Islam is the ‘perfect’
religion and
Muslims must not
embrace any other
another religion.
This day have I
perfected your
religion for you,
completed my favor
upon you, and have
chosen for you Islam
as your religion.

ARGUMENT
Islam is the ‘perfect’
religion and
Muslims must not
embrace any other
another religion.
PROOFS
Whoso desireth any
other religion than
Islam, that religion
shall never be
accepted from him,
and in the next world
he shall be among
the lost.

Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
ARGUMENT
Islam is the ‘perfect’
religion and
Muslims must not
embrace any other
another religion.
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Islam—meaning
submission to the will of
God—is the perfect
religion. This must not be
confused with the label
“Islam.” The Qur’an
identifies a number of
individuals who appeared
before Muhammad
calling themselves
“Muslims”.
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
NOAH WAS A MUSLIM
Recite to them the history of Noah,
… And if ye turn your backs on me,
yet ask I no reward from you: my
reward is with God alone, and I am
commanded to be of the Muslims.
—Jonah 10:72-73 (Rodwell)
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
ABRAHAM WAS A MUSLIM
O our Lord! make us also
Muslims, and our posterity a
Muslim people; and teach us our
holy rites, and be turned towards
us, for thou art He who turneth,
the Merciful. —The Cow 2:121-122 (Rodwell)
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
JACOB WAS A MUSLIM
Were ye present when Jacob was at the
point of death? when he said to his sons,
"Whom will ye worship when I am
gone?" They said, "We will worship thy
God and the God of thy fathers Abraham
and Ismael and Isaac, one God, and to
Him are we surrendered (Muslims).”
—The Cow 2:127 (Rodwell)
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
MOSES WAS A MUSLIM
And thou takest vengeance on us only
because we have believed on the signs
of our Lord when they came to us.
Lord! pour out constancy upon us, and
cause us to die Muslims."
—Al Araf 7:123 (AYA)
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
SAY: We believe in God, and in what hath
been sent down to us, and what hath been
sent down to Abraham, and Ismael, and
Isaac, and Jacob, and the tribes, and in
what was given to Moses, and Jesus, and
the Prophets, from their Lord. We make no
difference between them. And to Him are
we resigned (Muslims).
—Al Araf 3:78 (Rodwell)
[ISN’T THIS ABOUT THE ONENESS OF RELIGION?]
Muslim Objections to the Bahá’í Faith
BAHA’I RESPONSE
Belief in God and the hope of reward is shared by all faiths in
the Qur’an:
Verily, they who believe (Muslims), and they
who follow the Jewish religion, and the
Christians, and the Sabeites—whoever of
these believeth in God and the last day, and
doeth that which is right, shall have their
reward with their Lord: fear shall not come
upon them, neither shall they be grieved.
