Practice Solving Proportions
Begin worksheet on solving proportions.
Finish for homework.
Use cross-multiplication OR scale factor.

Similar- two plane figures are similar IF
(1) same # of sides
(2) same angle measures
(3) corresponding sides are proportional
Corresponding Parts- sides or angles that
have the same relative position
Proportional- when two ratios are equal
Ratio- a comparison of two numbers
example: 1:2 or 1 to 2 or ½
Corresponding parts…
what are the corresponding parts of the
houses we drew?

C
D
~ means “similar to”
E
F
Solving Proportions….
Sides are proportional when the ratios of
corresponding lengths are all equal.
Orientation of an object does not affect
similarity of two figures—
HINT- redraw them so corresponding
angles are in the same relative locations
CSAP Practice questions
Write CSAP for your heading
Write K: and W: for each question
Show your work/ explain your thoughts in
you class work
pg. 412, Draw the Same Shape
REVIEW:
What does it mean for two figures to have
the “same shape”?
Students finish # 3 – 4 in your class work.
Use tracing paper or protractor to check
your angles!
pg. 412 debrief
1. Is the mirror image of something
considered to be the same shape?
2. Does changing the size of something
change its shape?
pg. 414 How to Shrink It?
Read pg. 414 together.
NOTE- K: sketch of the house
