Angles
DEGREES
A unit of angle measure
Every circle is divided into 360 equal parts called
degrees
PROTRACTOR
A tool that measures degrees. It is a half circle
marked with 180 degrees.
ANGLE
A geometric figure made up of two rays (sides)
with a common endpoint. The endpoint is
called the vertex of the angle.
Naming Angles
Types of Angles
Acute, Right, Obtuse, Straight
ACUTE ANGLES
Angles that are greater that 0 and less than 90
degrees.
RIGHT ANGLES
Angles that equal 90 degrees
OBTUSE ANGLES
Angles that are greater than 90 degrees and
less than 180 degrees.
STRAIGHT ANGLES
Angles that equal 180 degrees
