Thailand is a
country of about
65 million people in
Southeast Asia.
80% of the people
are Thai.
10% are Chinese.
10% are other
Southeast Asian
People.

Thailand has been a
kingdom since the
13th century and has
never been ruled by a
western country.
This year is the 60th
anniversary of the
reign of King
Bhumibol Adulyadej,
and lots of
celebrations are
planned!

Most people in
Thailand (92%) are
Buddhist and
worship idols of
Buddha by going to
temples (called
“wats”), burning
incense, and
offering food or
flowers.

It is said that in
Thailand there are
more idols of Buddha
than there are
people!!!
Many boys serve some
time as a “monk” in a
Buddhist temple,
where they learn the
teachings of Buddha.

Most Buddhists
believe that you have
to think, speak, and
act rightly; meditate;
and follow the
teachings of Buddha
to earn “merit” and
have “good karma”.
Buddhists believe they
can live many lives
(“reincarnation”), and
if they do “good
deeds” in this life,
then their next life will
be better.

Even though Buddhists in
Thailand worship idols of
Buddha and follow his
teaching to try to reach
“enlightenment”, they also
live in fear of spirits. They
even build small houses
(“spirit houses”) outside
their homes so evil spirits
will live in the spirit houses
instead of bothering them.
They offer flowers and food
as offerings to appease the
spirits.
Jesus Christ – the hope of Thailand


Buddhists have no
hope of salvation,
forgiveness of sins, or
having a personal
relationship with God.
Even though the Thai
constitution provides
freedom of religion,
only 2% of Thailand is
Christian after almost
200 years of
missionary work
there.
Thailand – Land of the Free?



Thailand means “Land
of the Free” because
they have never been
ruled by foreign
powers.
Pray that the Thai
people will come to
know Jesus as Lord
and Savior so they
can be free indeed!
Pray that the church
in Thailand will
demonstrate the
Gospel with the power
of the Holy Spirit!

Pray that the Thai
people will turn
away from spiritual
darkness,
worshipping idols
of Buddha, and
come into the light
of the knowledge
of Jesus Christ as
their Lord and
Savior.
Jesus is Lord over Thailand!


Pray that Buddhists in
Thailand will know
that they have only
one life to live and
then to face judgment
before God.
Pray that they will
know that Jesus is the
WAY, the TRUTH, and
the LIFE, and that no
one can come to God
except through faith in
Jesus Christ! (Jn.14:6)
